Film, Negative and Slide Deterioration
These hold the life stories of your family. Quality Audio and Video can help you preserve the memories. As they get older, film begins to crack and deteriorate. The quality of any negative will naturally degrade over time. The information will be lost a number of different ways.
- Exposure to heat may cause warping, (film will stretch easier)
- Exposure to dry heat causes cracking
- Exposure to excess sunlight deteriorates the media
- Exposure to a strong magnet(television screen, stereo speakers), erases information.
- Exposure to excess heat or cold, makes slides brittle.
From this you can see how your memories can be lost. When you entrust them to us, your films will first be inspected for cracking, warping and brittle areas. Each film will then be cleaned, to remove lint and fingerprints. You will receive a full report of our inspections when we return them to you.

After your film has been converted to DVD, you may want to use it in your video montage, add music or edit out bad camera work.
35 mm Slides
The base price for 35 mm slides is .45 each. This includes inspecting the slides for cracking, distortation and deterioration before scanning begins. Each slide is scanned at 300 DPI, (Picture Quality), unless specified. We will scan your slides from 300 DPI up to 7200 DPI. At the highest scan rate, you can print the resulting photo at 24” W X 24” H and retain picture quality resolution. All scanned slides are digitally enhanced to improve the color, contrast and sharpness of each image.
