Tape Deterioration

Tapes hold the life stories of your family. Quality Audio and Video can help you preserve these memories. As they get older, tapes begin to crack and deteriorate. The quality of any tape will naturally degrade over time. The information will be lost a number of different ways.

• Exposure to heat may cause warping(Tapes will stretch easier)
• Exposure to dry heat causes cracking
• Exposure to excess sunlight deteriorates the media
• Exposure to a strong magnet(television screen, stereo speakers), erases information.
• Exposure to excess heat or cold, makes tapes brittle.

From this you can see how your memories can be lost. When you entrust them to us, your tapes will first be inspected for cracking, warping and brittle areas. Each tape will then be cleaned, to remove lint and fingerprints. You will receive a full report of our  inspections when we return your tapes.  

We use high quality DV+R media with all video tape conversions.

After your tape has been converted to  DVD, you may want to use it in your video montage, add music or edit out bad camera work.

Tapes to DVD

Quality Audio and Video converts the following tape formats: VHS, S_VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS-C, MicroMV, 8mm, Hi8, Digital8, MinDV and DV CAM. We ask you to drop off your camcorder with us for conversion of the MiniDV and DV Cam tapes.

8 mm Films

8 mm and Super 8 mm films convert to DVD with a clarity that is equal to if not better than your original. We are proud of our work and use cameras that bring out fine details and rich colors like the video shown below. Each file(film) is digitally enhanced before creating your DVD.
